20′HT – HARD TOP

Open-top containers transport large cargo that can only be loaded from the top. The same containers are used for oversized cargo whose height is higher than the standard container’s.

Container Open Tops usually have a removable roof made of canvas or a similar material. A Hard Top with a removable hard roof is less common for easy loading. Both open Tops and Hard Tops have a removable crossbar at the end, which makes them easier to handle and manage. OUG (OOG) stands for out-of-gauge. This means the cargo is larger than a standard container. It sticks out of the container.

• • Similar in function to Open Top Containers
• • Specially designed to transport heavy cargo that is best loaded by crane and cargo that extends out of the top of the container
• • Equipped with a removable steel roof
• • If the cargo protrudes out of the container, the roof can be removed and attached to the inside of the container
• • This allows the container to be used for regular cargo on the way back. This reduces the cost of transporting empty containers.
• • Goods can best be secured to the interior lashing points located in the vicinity of the side walls only when the roof is on
• • Some models also have a swinging header (rear top rail) to facilitate easier loading operations
• • Roof opening can vary depending on the model (one or more pieces)
